A special message

I wanted to share something that was given to my daughter by her Teaching Assistant on the last day of school a couple of weeks ago.

I can’t tell you how much it means to me and to her. Those words carry so much more than just the fabulous message. They mean to me that her TA understands my daughter, supports her and values her. That this support came through a year that has been quite tricky to navigate sometimes. That when I worry in the future, I know my daughter will always have an understanding person to talk to at school.

To my daughter those words will last a lifetime I hope. I can tell how much they mean to her by the way she looks after it. She uses it as her bookmark-and her books are very special to her. The smile on her face when she showed me and the way she held it close to her chest were more than enough to tell me how much it meant.

It’s such a wonderful message and so much more so as it meant that the TA understood my daughter very well. She’s such a lovely lady and helped out through a tricky year just gone. I doubt Mr Gove will listen, but TA’s are fantastic and we need them in our schools.

Wow, what a very special gift! So important to speak these words into our children’s lives early on.
